For a thousand years, we have been making wines in the Priorat region that convey the essence of this unique land
The name of the Priorat region has been linked to the idea of wine for centuries.
The combination of land, climate, a mountainous geography and the work of the men and women who have produced it, following the techniques of an age-old tradition but today with the help of technology adapted to what its quality demands, have given us an authentic and exclusive product: the wine of the Priorat.
In 2010, Albert Jané wanted the unique experience of making wine and tending vineyards in the Priorat, an area close to, but very different from, Montsant. He wanted to share the first experiences he had had in Penedès from 1996 when he started his family business, then in the Montsant from 2004 and, in 2010, also in Priorat in order to close the circle.
The project began in Poboleda, but in 2012 he set up the winery in the beautiful, unique La Vilella Alta, in an old building that has now been completely refurbished.
Noble slate-grown wines
Currently the project includes the organic cultivation of almost 20 hectares. There are 14 hectares on the estates that it owns, given over mostly to vines, and a further 6 hectares of leased vineyards throughout the DOQ: starting with Aubagues de Falset – Gratallops, Bellmunt del Priorat, Coll de Porrera, El Lloar and in front of the winery itself in La Vilella Alta.
The Winery is located on the outskirts of La Vilella Alta, in an old farm that has been completely transformed into a winery of 550 square metres, along with a 100 square-metre tasting room. The best thing about the winery is its location, facing the Montsant mountain range and the town of La Figuera, offering incredible views and tranquillity. The winery is perfectly insulated with all the necessary temperature controls and facilities for making wine. The Winery has an area for wine-making with various stainless steel tanks and oak vats, as well as an area for barrel-ageing and bottle-ageing the wine.
